It was very purple prose like, yet it was mixed with odd word choices, and ways to use them, plus a lot of profanity. ![]() I don’t know if she always writes like this, or if this was a special choice for this particular book. This is my first time reading Khaw so I was not prepared for her writing style. The reason I still gave this 3 stars is that I enjoyed the second half much more, but to be honest I do wonder if I’m rating this a little high since I had no idea what was going on a good chunk of the time. Unfortunately, this was not what I was hoping for and I almost DNF’d it a few times.
